Back in the saddle…

1. Beauty & Sadness - Smithereens
2. Been a Son - Nirvana
3. Belong - REM
4. Black Betty - Ram Jam
5. Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters
Hello, Dis is Peggy.

Way back Wednesday.
I know, you are probably expecting 80s tunes because that’s what all the cool kids (i.e., commercial radio stations) play on Wednesday. But I’m going back further.
The way back in the day playlist for today:
- The Sky is Crying - Elmore James
- Fooling Myself - Billie Holiday
- Boom Boom - John Lee Hooker
- Where Did You Sleep Last Night - Leadbelly
- Slow Fuse - Johnny Otis
Doncha love a nice, hot summer day?
Makes me all nostalgic & what not. So here are my picks for this hot, sunny Thursday afternoon. Some are old and some are new. But I love them all, just the same.
- Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles
- Lithium - Nirvana
- Rumour Has It - Adele
- She’s A Rainbow - The Rolling Stones
- Last Night - The Strokes
- Blues Before & After - The Smithereens
Do I need to start posting proper playlists?
Rebound
Didja ever have, like, a really crappy experience? And then at the end of it, after you I raged and screamed, maybe punched a few things, broke stuff, listened to some aggressive music with the ‘phones turned waaaay up and jumped up & down for good measure, you were I was just, well, spent?
So then you I listened to some blues, to regroup.
- Doreen - Old 97s
- Way Down in the Hole - Steve Earle
- Just Dropped In - Kenny Rogers
- Heartache - Jamey Johnson
- Harlem River Blues - Justin Townes Earle
Yeah. Much better now.
Because it’s one of THOSE days
I’m starting early with the angry music. Don’t you hate it when everything goes to shit at once?
1. Commando - the Ramones
2. Holidays in the Sun- the Sex Pistols
3. Fall Back Down - Rancid
4. Jump in the Fire - Metallica
5. Bodies - the Sex Pistols
6. Bloodclot - Rancid
7. Piss & Vinegar - Against Me

10. Road Zombie - Social Distortion
I’m baaa-ack!
Didja miss me?
No?
S’okay. I’m secure in my awesomeness.
I drove far, drove so far away today.
It was overcast & I listened to R.E.M.
It was sunny & I listened to the GoGo’s.
I got home & I listened to Johnny Cash.
A great somewhat crappy time was had by all.
But? We are home. And home is good.
As you were.
Took a little unintentional hiatus prior to an intentional one.
Need to go take care of some business.
I shall soon return.
Until then, I’ll be listening to:
- Superman (REM)
- Kiss them for Me (Siouxsie & the Banshees)
- Add it Up (Violent Femmes)
- Is She Really Going Out With Him (Joe Jackson)
- Been Caught Stealin’ (Jane’s Addiction)
- Let’s Go (the Cars)
- Fade Into You (Mazzy Star)
- Imagine (John Lennon)
Later.
Oh no you didn’t … taking it old school (well, 90s alt) for THURSDAY*
A sweet nugget of awesome 90s alt rock came up on my shuffle today. Which inspired a few more of the old-school songs that I loved back in the day when I sported a ‘do-rag (oh, yes I did).
- Here & Now - Letters to Cleo. The comfort of the knowlege of a rise above the sky above can never parallel the challenge of an acquisition in the here & now! Here & now! Yeah. I memorized that once. And now it shall never leave my brain.
- Down In It - NIN. I used to be so big & strong, I used to know my right from wrong, I used to never be afraid (I used to be somebody!)
- Only Happy When it Rains - Garbage. Pour your misery down on me…
- Cumbersome - Seven Mary Three. She calls me Goliath but I wear the David mask. I guess the stones are coming too fast for her now.
- Them Bones - Alice in Chains. I feel so alone, gonna end up a big old pile of them bones.
I’m sorry, but the early 90s alt lyrics were absolutely awesome. Nope, I lied. I’m not sorry at all. But the lyrics were still freakin’ great.
* I originally put Friday in the title of this post. But I realized after I published it that it was wishful thinking.
